With passing away of over 25000 programs all over the world Dr M Balamurali Krishna, classical singer par excellence, the Indian classical fraternity and innumerable fans have lost a ‘Muththina Haara’. Why Muththina Haara is because there is one unforgettable song of Dr M B K ‘Devaru Hoseda Muththina Haara….how one can one forget it.
 

The biggest event for Kannadigas was at Vishwa Kannada Sammelana in Belagavi, Dr M Balamuralikrishna enthralled the audience. It was in March middle of 2011.

He received a national award as "best playback singer" for his participation in the film Hamsageeth and as "best music director" for the film Madhvacharya that was made in Sanskrit by GV Iyer.

Dr Balamuralikrishna displayed a mastery of classical musical traditions of India and has composed more than 400 pieces. He has released more than 250 cassettes in his native country. A native of Sankaraguptan, a small village in Rojolu Taluk in the East Godvari District of Andhra Pradesh, played flute, violin, and Veena. He made his public debut when he performed during Sadguru Arandhana Utsava at the age of eight. By the age of 15, he was known throughout India and had composed 72 Melakarta ragas.

A score of awards and titles have been bestowed upon him such as honorary Ph.D., D.Sc., and D.Lit. certificates from Andhra University, Jawaharial Nehru Technological University, and Sri Verkateswara University and an honorary "first citizen" award from Vijayawad. In 1978, was named "Sangeetha Kalanidhi." He received the award as "Wisdom man of the year" in 1992. Four years later, he was named "Naada Maharishi" by the Nrityala Aesthetics Society.

Dr M Balamuralikrishna was recipient of Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Sri besides international honor of Chevallier Rank Chevallier from France.
